Su nombre proviene del n\u00e1huatl <em>Nopalli<\/em> (nopal) y <em>la<\/em> (lugar), lo que significa <strong>\u201clugar de nopales\u201d<\/strong>. El apellido \u201cVillagr\u00e1n\u201d se a\u00f1adi\u00f3 en honor al insurgente <strong>coronel Vicente Villagr\u00e1n Guti\u00e9rrez<\/strong>, por decreto estatal del 29 de enero de 1868.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Este municipio fue fundado por <strong>tribus otom\u00edes en el siglo VII<\/strong> y posteriormente habitado por <strong>toltecas, teotihuacanos, aztecas y chichimecas<\/strong>, quienes dejaron una profunda huella cultural. Entre sus principales atractivos destacan:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>La Parroquia de Santa Mar\u00eda Magdalena<\/strong>, construida en el siglo XVII, un s\u00edmbolo de fe y arquitectura virreinal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Los balnearios y manantiales de Nopala<\/strong>, ideales para disfrutar del contacto con la naturaleza.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>La Ex Hacienda Debego<\/strong>, del siglo XVII, donde se respira historia en cada rinc\u00f3n.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Los paisajes boscosos de \u201cLas Vegas\u201d<\/strong>, perfectos para los amantes del senderismo y la fotograf\u00eda.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Las presas y recorridos por antiguas haciendas<\/strong>, que reflejan el pasado agr\u00edcola y ganadero de la regi\u00f3n.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Estas experiencias hacen de Nopala un lugar con gran <strong>potencial para el ecoturismo, el turismo cultural y la sustentabilidad<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-que-es-el-programa-de-mejora-best-tourism-villages-de-onu-turismo\"><strong>\u00bfQu\u00e9 es el Programa de Mejora Best Tourism Villages de ONU Turismo?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>El <strong>Programa de Mejora Best Tourism Villages<\/strong>, impulsado por la <strong>ONU Turismo<\/strong>, reconoce y apoya a comunidades rurales con <strong>alto potencial tur\u00edstico<\/strong>, que promueven el <strong>desarrollo sostenible<\/strong>, la <strong>preservaci\u00f3n cultural<\/strong> y la <strong>protecci\u00f3n del entorno natural<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En su <strong>quinta edici\u00f3n (2025)<\/strong>, el organismo internacional recibi\u00f3 <strong>m\u00e1s de 270 solicitudes<\/strong> de todo el mundo.
