Los trabajos comenzaron en 1904 con la planeaci\u00f3n y la cimentaci\u00f3n, y se prolongaron hasta 1910, cuando concluy\u00f3 la construcci\u00f3n de la torre a tiempo para las celebraciones del centenario.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"el-mismo-taller-ingles-que-hizo-el-mecanismo-del-big-ben\">El mismo taller ingl\u00e9s que hizo el mecanismo del Big Ben<\/h2>\n<p>La maquinaria del reloj fue fabricada por la f\u00e1brica que fund\u00f3 el relojero ingl\u00e9s <strong>Edward John Dent<\/strong>, el mismo taller responsable del mecanismo del Big Ben en Londres, lo que explica el funcionamiento similar entre ambos relojes. La compra de la maquinaria corri\u00f3 a cargo del diplom\u00e1tico mexicano Jes\u00fas Zenil Mart\u00ednez, quien la adquiri\u00f3 en Europa mientras se desempe\u00f1aba como ministro de M\u00e9xico ante el Imperio Austroh\u00fangaro y gestion\u00f3 su traslado hasta Pachuca.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"cuatro-esculturas-que-resumen-la-historia-de-mexico\">Cuatro esculturas que resumen la historia de M\u00e9xico<\/h2>\n<p>En la parte superior de la torre se ubican cuatro esculturas de m\u00e1rmol de Carrara, obra de artistas italianos, de tres metros de altura cada una. Cada figura representa un momento clave de la historia nacional: la Independencia de 1810, la Libertad de 1821, la Constituci\u00f3n de 1857 y la Reforma de 1859, enmarcadas por columnas corintias de inspiraci\u00f3n grecorromana.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"restauracion-en-marcha-para-llegar-renovado-al-mundial-2026\">Restauraci\u00f3n en marcha para llegar renovado al Mundial 2026<\/h2>\n<p>En 2025, el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBAL) firm\u00f3 un convenio con el municipio de Pachuca de Soto para restaurar el monumento en dos etapas, que incluyen limpieza especializada, tratamiento de cantera y restauraci\u00f3n de elementos ornamentales. El plan busca eliminar grafitis y reforzar la estructura, de forma que el Reloj Monumental de Pachuca llegue en \u00f3ptimas condiciones al flujo de visitantes que se espera durante el Mundial 2026, del que la ciudad ser\u00e1 una de las sedes con actividad tur\u00edstica en el estado.<\/p>\n<p>M\u00e1s de un siglo despu\u00e9s de su inauguraci\u00f3n, el reloj sigue abierto al p\u00fablico de lunes a domingo, con recorridos por su interior y acceso a los balcones superiores, desde donde se aprecia una vista panor\u00e1mica de Pachuca.
